Phyno Turns Phenomenal in Owerri

It was the turn of music fans in Owerri and neighbouring cities to catch the raging fire of entertainment ignited on the Star Music Trek platform. Owerri, the capital of Imo State is the third city to host the 2013 edition of the music tour and it featured rave of the moment, Azubuike Chibuzor Nelson, better known as Phyno. Fans did not quite know what to expect from him, but by the time he connected with them through one of his songs, AmanchiKwanu, the rest was easy.
Phyno went on to deliver over 25 minutes of non-stop hits from his growing repertoire, including, My Cool and Ghost Mode. These songs were all the more impactful being delivered in his unique infusion of Igbo language, Pidgin and English. At the end of the day, Phyno was loaded with the biggest appreciation for the night. Despite his stellar performance, the fans wanted more, even as he left the stage, they kept demanding for encores.
"I'm humbled by the love and appreciation," he said after his performance.
Black Diamond, Wande Coal's performance was, as one fan aptly put
it: "simply off the hook'. Belting out a medley of his greatest hits including You Bad, Bumper 2 Bumper, Rotate and The Kick, the Mavin singer brought an enormous amount of energy with him on stage.
Mr. Raw returned to Owerri last weekend, with a rich set that justifies claims that he's one of the greatest acts from the South East. Backed by a seven-man band, the rapper connected with fans in ways words cannot capture, enjoying himself as much as the fans, and bringing back memories of some of his greatest classics over the years such as Obodo, Aragagbandiara, Spiritual Konji and more.
JMartins brought tears to the eyes of over 70,000 fans in Owerri as he interrupted his soulful performance, to bring Chukwudi Ejiofor a handicapped fan up to the stage.
Despite being physically challenged,Chukwudi who says he dances for a living, joined other fans for Martin's dance competition, and he received wild cheers from the crowd.
As JMartins watched him mix acrobatics with dancing, he asked for silence as he spoke emphatically "God will restore you." Overcome with emotion, JMartins left Chukwudi with a memento: his neck chain.
When 23 year old Golden Chinedu Okafor stepped into Hero Square Owerri for the annual Star Music Trek, he had only three things in mind. 1: To hang out with his buddies, 2: Have a couple of drinks on them. 3 Watch some of the greatest performers in Africa.
One hour later Golden, a.k.a X Busta was performing on stage with one of the greatest artistes artistes in Africa M.I. The proverbial opportunity of a lifetime.
Golden, encouraged by his friends, had the 'golden' opportunity to freestyle on stage just like many other up-comers who came to show their talent. But after witnessing his performance, Gbenga Adeyinka, the gregarious MC who isn't easily impressed, quickly promised to personally introduce him to M.I when the prolific rapper eventually got on stage.
The 400 level student studying Estate Management at Imo State University who also happens to be the Director of Socials of his institution is an amazing bundle of talent, spitting lyrics viciously and free styling in a unique and appealing way which caught the attention of thousands of music fans at 'The Trek' as well as Chocolate City boss, MI.
M.I called Busta to join him on stage during his set; allowing the young rapper freestyle before the thousands of fans at Heroes Square.
The rapper without hesitation removed his jacket handing it over to the elated upcomer... perhaps passing over a mantle??
Despite the poor weather and threatening rain, the crowd refused to leave the concert venue until the very last note, forcing the night's stars to extend their sets to satisfy eager fans who attended from Owerri, Abia, Enugu, Aba, Nnewi and other surrounding communities.
