Obuh resigns as coach of U-20 team

John Obuh has handed in his resignation letter, stepping down as coach of Nigeria’s U-20 team.
Obuh, who has spent the last six years coaching different youth teams of the country, sent in his letter to the NFF on Thursday morning.
“I went in to the office on Thursday and handed my resignation letter to the NFF General Secretary,” Obuh told KickOffNigeria.
“I need some time off to think about my future and spend time with my family.”
He had earlier given a strong hint that he is about to resign as coach of Nigeria’s U-20 team.
The Flying Eaglets were defeated 1-2 by Uruguay in the round of 16, at the FIFA U-20 World Cup and Obuh has stated that since he did not meet the given targets, he might step down.
“Our target at this tournament was not to leave this early, but I hope the next coach will take it from where I stopped,” Obuh said.
Obuh, who has been constantly criticized for recycling players, admitted that the country had a lot of talents at their disposal.
He said: “Nigeria is a football nation blessed with a lot of talent. The players only have to focus and they will be world beaters.”
