Monaco’s spending this summer could be set to continue with interest in Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel.
Although Mikel has four years left on his contract he is unsure about his future at Stamford Bridge.
According to the Guardian, Mikel has said, “I have a four-year contract with Chelsea, but you know, in football you can never guess, one day you are here, the next you might leave.”
The return of manager Jose Mourinho has cast the player’s future into doubt, which has led to interest from Turkish clubs Galatasaray and Trabzonspor.
Galatasary looked to be in poll position to sign the defensive midfielder, but big-spenders AS Monaco have taken an interest in the player in the last couple of days.
Mikel is thought to be worth somewhere in the region of £16 million, a fee that would not pose any problems for the recently promoted side from Monaco
However, a move to Galatasaray would see the midfielder join up with former Chelsea legend Drogba, who moved to Turkey after an unsuccessful spell in China.
