Douglas explained that his particular form of throat cancer was caused by human papillomavirus (HPV) that was contracted from "cunnilingus" aka oral sex on a female. Douglas says, "It's a sexually transmitted disease that causes cancer. If you have it, cunnilingus is also the best cure for it."
HPV is also known to cause cervical and anal cancer.
Douglas was diagnosed with stage four throat cancer in 2010. He underwent weeks of radiation and chemotherapy. He has now been cancer free for over two years. Speaking on his treatment, Douglas said, "That's a rough ride. That can really take it out of you. Plus the amount of chemo I was getting, it zaps all the good stuff too. It made me very weak."
Douglas and his second wife, Catherine Zeta-Jones, have two children, ages 10 and 12. Douglas has an older son, Cameron, from a previous marriage. In 2010, Cameron was sentenced to five years in prison for drug possession and dealing. His sentence was extended until 2018 after he pleaded guilty to possessing drugs in prison.
