AT least 130 cultists have renounced their association with various cult groups in Ughelli,
Ughelli North Local Government Area, Delta State.
The former cultists relinquished various dangerous weapons such as battle axe and knives
which were in their possession as well as identification cards and vests bearing the names of
their groups.
The renounce exercise was carried out during a church service held at the palace of the Ovie
of Ughelli, HRM Oharisi III at the instance of a socio-political group, the Rainbow Concerned
Citizens of Ughelli Kingdom and the traditional ruler.
Speaking during the church service, Oharisi III advised the
former cultists never to return to
their nefarious activities to enable them attain whatever height they desired in the society. He
said the group had the backing of the kingdom in its quest to flush out cultism from the
kingdom.
Coordinator of the Rainbow Concerned Citizens of Ughelli Kingdom, Mr. Elvis Abarovwe said
the body was out to sensitize youths in Ughelli on the need to desist from cultist and criminal
activities.
He appealed to the State and Local Governments and well meaning individuals to assist the
group financially to enable it achieve its set objectives.
