The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Monday, paraded one Mr. Wasiu Adewale Azees, who has allegedly been impersonating the Chief Superintendent Officer of the Corps in Offa, Kwara State and has successfully defrauded 54 job seekers to the tune of N8.5 million.
The suspect, who claimed to be a former volunteer in the corps, did not deny the allegation but confessed to newsmen that he has been working with some NSCDC senior officers at the national headquarters and Lagos command to defraud job seekers.
Parading the suspect in Abuja, the Corps Public Relations Officer, Mr. Okeh Emmanuel, said the suspect was caught following a report and various complaints
received by the management of NSCDC over the personnel of the corps that have been collecting money from people in the name of recruitment.
Some of the items recovered from the suspects include letter headed papers of Fire Service, Civil Defence, Immigration and Prison Service Board, fake appointment letters, a signed promotion letter by the former Acting Comptroller General of NSCDC, Dr. Oladunjoye which read 2002 and a letter addressed to the Corporate affairs commission for registration.
While urging Nigerians especially the job seekers to be careful about people they deal with, Emmanuel therefore disclosed that Wasiu Adewale Azees, has never being a personnel of the Corps even as a volunteer in the past.
