Adebolajo and Adebowale pleads not guilty to Lee Rigby murder in Woolwich

Michael Adebolajo, 28, from Romford, east London, and Michael Adebowale, 22, from Greenwich, south-east London, denied the charges at the Old Bailey.
They are accused of murdering Fusilier Rigby near Woolwich barracks on 22 May.
The men also denied attempting to murder a police officer on that day, as well as planning to murder a police officer on or before that day.
Mr Adebolajo has asked to be known as Mujaahid Abu Hamza in court, while Mr Adebowale wants to be called Ismail Ibn Abdullah.
The men appeared via videolink from HMP Belmarsh, with Mr Adebowale sitting in front of a prison sign.
Fusilier Rigby's widow, Rebecca Rigby, was
in court for the hearing.
A trial date has been provisionally set for 18 November.

Wenger says six teams can win the EPl, check who made the list

Arsene Wenger is shocked at how Arsenal have fought their way to the top of the Premier League table - but expects a hard battle to stay there.
Only two points separate the leading five sides heading into this weekend's matches, which will see second-placed Tottenham host Chelsea, while reigning champions Manchester United may be eighth but remain only five points off the summit.
Arsenal have produced the perfect response to their
3-1 home loss to Aston Villa on the opening day, chalking up seven straight wins in all competitions, and progressing through a
penalty shoot-out at West Brom in the Capital One Cup earlier this week.
But Gunners boss Wenger knows the biggest challenges lay ahead in maintaining such form.
Ahead of Saturday afternoon's game at Swansea, he said: "I thought some teams could have a perfect start, but as you have seen everybody at some stage or another has had a bad result and that allowed us to bounce back.
"If you have a choice, that's where you want to be [at the top]. It is a very early stage, but there is a compact group of teams.
"[I believe] five, six [teams can challenge for the title]. The top four of last year, Liverpool, Tottenham, all these teams, yes.
"If you look at the quality of the games, the whole season looks to be very promising."
Former Cardiff midfielder Aaron Ramsey will have a fitness test on a thigh problem, as will Mathieu Flamini (shoulder).
England forward Theo Walcott, meanwhile, faces more than a month of rehabilitation after undergoing minor surgery on an abdominal problem.
Teenage winger Serge Gnabry could again be thrown in at the deep end against Swansea.
"We have some other boys who have the technical quality to play in the Premier League, but are not resistant enough yet to compete physically, but he [Gnabry] has that," Wenger added.
The French tactician, meanwhile, has received the full backing of Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke as his young team look to deliver a first trophy since 2005.
The London club are embarking on what they hope will be a new chapter backed by increased financial resources, which helped secure the record £43million signing of Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid.
"I am very grateful to this club because during the 17 years we had ups and downs," Wenger added.
"They have always shown a big faith in me and they always let me do the job like I thought it had to be done, and if I am still here today it is because I got that consistent support from inside the club.
"Honestly, I would love to be here forever because that would mean I would be immortal! I am (though) not naive enough to believe that.
"What I would like to do as long as I am here is give my best for this club because I love this club, of course."
Wenger, whose current deal expires at the end of the season, added: "I am very honoured to have the support of Stan Kroenke. That he thinks I can help the club is a huge confidence vote.
"That is something for me that is very positive."

Bizarre!! 8,000 Zamfara women protest scarcity of husbands

Over 8,000 women on Thursday marched to the Zamfara Hisbah Commission seeking the
state government’s assistance to enable them get married, the News Agency of
Nigeria reports.
Led by the Chairperson of the Zamfara Widows Association, Hajiya Suwaiba Isa, and their
patron, Alhaji Sa’idu Goshe, the women said they were not leading a full life and
needed
husbands to become whole.
They said many of them could not afford two meals in a day because there were no men
to support them.
The patron said the association had over 8,000 women, comprising 5,380 divorcees, 2,200
widows, 1,200 orphans and 80 others, whom he said, were looking for men to marry.
He said the women also needed assistance to purchase household items such as beds,
mattresses and other basic necessities needed to move to their husband houses.
Goshe appealed to the commission to assist the association in screening suitors for the
women.
He said the screening would determine the suitors’ health status, source of livelihood
and ability to maintain a family.
Responding, the Chairman of the commission, Dr Atiku Zawuyya, commended the
association for the initiative, saying it would assist in ridding the society of women of
easy virtues.
Zawuyya promised to present the matter to the state government for necessary action,
but urged the patron to also set up a similar body for men to make the pairing exercise
easier.

The 'White Widow' behind the Kenyan mall massacre was in Nigeria

According to a report by UK Daily Mirror, Samantha Lewthwaite, the British woman known as
the “White Widow” accused of masterminding the Kenyan shopping mall massacre that left 68
people dead and over 170 injured was in Nigeria sometime ago and evaded detection.
From Daily Mirror ;
If White Widow Samantha Lewthwaite is on the run she will be hard to catch. If Lewthwaite
were to be on the run in Kenya, Nigeria or Somalia, it would be a easier to evade detection
than in Europe. She would be wearing a veil, and sensitivities about searching Muslim
women would be observed so she could easily slip through difficult checkpoints.
In Nigeria, where police forces are notoriously corrupt, there were reports she was almost
caught a while ago, but she bribed her way out of trouble. Extremist communities such as
al-Shabaab are tight-knit in these
countries, making it difficult to recruit agents to
penetrate them and trace her.
And Lewthwaite may hold a great deal of power as a special kind of jihadist, having proved her
worth in previous attacks. As a white convert mum and widow of a 7/7 bomber, she would be
invaluable propaganda and would command huge loyalty. Also, the austere nature of her
adopted culture means she would rarely go out, so there would be few opportunities to follow
her. Bounties have failed to nail jihadists as money has no value to individuals loyal to the
cause.

Graphic photos: Train kills man (cuts him into pieces)

Some eyewitnesses said the man threw himself in front of the train, some said he was just
walking across the railway track with his friends when a train coming from Agege approached
early yesterday morning around the Bolade area of Oshodi. Don't know which one is accurate
but there's one fact; the unidentified man was crushed into pieces by the train. When I say
into pieces, I mean head off, hand off, leg off, cut into two from the stomach. Viewers discretion is highly advised

Are you a side chick??

Has anyone here seen the movie ‘I think I love my wife”?? I got the inspiration to write this
article from the movie. What is SIDE CHICK??? More appropriate: Who is a SIDE CHICK???
According to an online dictionary,
SIDE CHICK can be said to be the other woman; also known as the mistress; a female that
is neither a male’s wife nor girlfriend who has relations with
the male while he is in
another relationship. Check out this conversation between two friends:
Lola: Look at Tina and Bayo…are they going out?
Tolu: No Lola! Bayo is dating Funmi. Tina is just his sidechick
The Side Chick, the Mistress, the Other Woman, a vixen to some, an evil temptress to
others, whatever name you may have for her, she has tramped her way all across the
media making a reputation for herself as a sexy, influential, classy, and potentially
destructive force to be reckoned with in a man’s life! The Side Chick has so much appeal
these days, that I heard that in the movie, “I Think I Love My Wife,” more actresses
auditioned for the side chick role than did the wife’s role. Why does the side chick have so
much sex appeal? I have come up with two reasons (really one when you think about it):
she’s usually beautiful, and she works hard to please and appeal to the guy that she’s
after.
The Side Chick usually “keeps her game tight,” meaning that she has put a lot of energy
and hard work into her appearance and presentation. When she walks by, guys have taken
notice, sometimes to their demise if they foolishly stare while presently with their wife or
girlfriend! Married couples and other couples in committed relationships, both men and
women, tend to get complacent in their relationships, under a notion that now that they
have their significant other, they don’t have to put a lot of energy into their appearance. If
a potential side chick discovers this about the main woman of the man she’s after, usually
she’ll not only try to look her best when he’s around, she may even take it further and find
out what he likes, whether it’s miniskirts, fish net panty hose etc, or if he likes certain
body parts of a woman, she’ll wear clothes that accentuate that area of her frame. She’s a
marketer and she plays for keeps so if you have a man (and you want to keep him… lol),
“keep your game tight” even if he has convinced you that he isn’t going anywhere. Just
because you got him doesn’t mean that you should stop doing things that make him still
chase after you!
If a potential sidechick doesn’t have a lot going on with her appearance and presentation,
she may just present herself as “easy” and “shameless.” And though she’s okay with being
merely one of the women in a man’s life, a Side Chick can also be a skilled researcher and
developer in the area of what her targeted man likes. She may throw herself at him and see
how he responds (“easy” and “shameless” can be very effective “marketing campaigns” for
her), or she may covertly ‘friend’ the husband or boyfriend and gathers intelligence on him
as to:
1. what he likes
2. and what his wife or girlfriend isn’t doing for him that he wishes she would do for
him.
If a girlfriend/fiancée/wife isn’t careful, the Side Chick may even befriend HER and gather
intelligence on the guy. Again, if you have a man and you want to keep him, keep him
happy.
Women who are comfortable with the role of a side chick can be likened to a hurricane, if
you aren’t prepared for one, they can be devastating to a relationship, a family, and even a
man’s general successes and hard work.
Some ladies are happy being sidechicks. They only need guidelines and laid down rules
that will make them the perfect ‘other’ woman. Don’t blame them though, not every girl can
be lucky to hold the number 1 position in a man’s life. The part 2 of this article will focus
on the Basic Rules for SideChick. Situations around me have made it clear to me that
some side chicks are confused about their role in relationships. In the spirit of helping all
the “other women” out there, I will offer some rules that can help them succeed in their role
as sidechicks.
ARE U A SIDE CHICK???

Glo X Factor Winner, DJ Switch Says She Has An 8-Year-Old Child

Winner of the just concluded maiden
edition of Glo X Factor, Obianuju
Catherine Udeh aka DJ Switch has

three years before winning the Star
Quest talent hunt show along with Da

private,” she said.

her late 20s also said that she’s

which she said has been on for

always make out time to see each other,” she added.
DJ Switch had, after being crowned the winner of the maiden edition of Glo X Factor,
apologised to her mother saying: -
“I am sorry, mum, for being away from home for so long while in search of glory. Now
that I am back, I will take good care of you.
“I was like a prodigal son, who had an opportunity in the past but due to youthful

Kcee Glows On ‘MyStreetz Magazine Cover

According to Sesan Adeniji, publisher of Mystreetz magazine,
‘After all the fear that enveloped the Nigerian music industry years ago due to the exit of
foreign record companies such as CBS/SONY Music and EMI, despite the boom in
revenue for artistes today in an industry surviving on a dilapidated structure, one major
lesson for me is this; hard work does not kill, ignorance does. Majority of the artistes
successful today has justified the reason why focus, persistence, carving a niche and
being business minded are all the vital ingredients for longevity in the Nigerian music
industry.
Like they say; it’s all about time and season for every artiste but
a handful of artistes
have defied the odds to remain rooted in this industry and Kcee is one of them. He has
been in the mix of things for over a decade churning out one significant hit after another
and up on till this moment, he remains one of the most relevant artistes in the year 2013
with his hit song Limpopo gathering more fan base across borders, age groups and
gender. With all the endorsements and a filled up performance calendar, it’s high time we
all agreed that it’s Kcee’s time. Considering all the negative press and fans fearing that
he wouldn’t stand alone after the break up from the two man group, KC Presh; Kcee has
somehow broken off that “group break-up jinx” by releasing eight tracks culminating into
mega hits, through this, it is obvious that hard work does not kill. With focus and
persistence, the time will come when the world will celebrate you. It’s Kcee’s Time and
there’s no doubt about it’.
This September issue of Mystreetz magazine will be out on every newsstand nationwide
soon.

If Suarez extends his contract at Liverpool I'll eat my hat

The 26-year-old has been something of a divisive figure in his two years at Anfield and on
Wednesday evening he was centre stage once again as he returned to face Manchester United
at Old Trafford in Liverpool ’s 1-0 defeat.
Suarez hadn’t played a competitive match for the Reds since March of this year due to his
ten-match FA ban for biting Chelsea’s Branislav Ivanovic but whether he plays or not the
controversy is never too far away from him.
He was the eye of the storm this summer – after telling the press he wanted to

ASUU/FG face-off: Private varsities’ VCs call for truce

WORRIED by the protracted industrial action embarked upon by public university lecturers
under the aegis of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Vice-Chancellors of private
universities have expressed concern and sympathy for the affected students, noting that there
was need to end the three-month-old impasse between the Federal Government and the
striking lecturers.
The VCs of Bells University of Technology (BELLSTECH), Prof. Isaac Adeyemi; Redeemer’s
University, Prof. Zachariah Adeyewa; Covenant University, Prof. Charles Ayo; and Caleb
University, Professor Ayodeji Olukoju, while expressing their discomfort, noted that Nigeria’s
educational system needs strategic planning and restructuring to regain its lost glory
The VC, Redeemer’s University, Prof. Adeyewa, said “some of my
children are also affected by
the strike and have been pleading with me to send them to private varsities because they are
tired of staying at home. In fact, I want to appreciate parents who are sending their children to
private varsities because they are making a lot of sacrifices. I would have loved all my children
to attend private varsities but I can’t afford the tuition fees.
“We are not happy that some of our children are becoming grand-parents at home because of
the ongoing imbroglio between government and ASUU. The truth is that government and the
citizens are not totally committed as the average parent will want to send his wards to smaller
African countries to acquire education, where they may be lost to foreign cultures.”
Lamenting the unending industrial action by unions in the country’s public tertiary
institutions, BELLSTECH VC, Adeyemi, said parties going into an agreement, especially
between government and staff unions, should put up an implementation strategy that must be
acknowledged by the parties.
“This way, if there are changes in the agreement due to the evolving realities of life, both
parties must be carried along and be willing to re-negotiate. We need to have a holistic view
of the project called Nigeria and agreement should be based on current realities of life
because no situation is static. But I insist that there must be constant interaction and mutual
agreement between both parties.
“If government says this is what she can afford now, the next thing is to agree on an
implementation strategy for the balance. However, we shouldn’t wish away the fact that those
in government are also Nigerians and the good of our education system is their concern. It
takes a lot to fund education and these funds can’t be reared overnight, making strategic
planning necessary to restructure our education system.
Similarly, the VC, Covenant University, Prof. Ayo reiterated the need for a state of emergency
to be declared in the education sector.
“It’s unfortunate that public varsities have been shut-down for over two months, especially at
a time when access to and quality of education in the country are low. ASUU should not be
totally blamed for standing their grounds, because government needs to show more
commitment to education.
“The pertinent question we should ask is- are we able to separate adequate funding of
education and quality because with our paltry percentage of annual budgetary allocation less
than 10 per cent compared to countries like Ghana, South-Africa, our standards will continue
to dwindle. This calls for the need for a state of emergency in the nation’s educational
system.”
On his part, the VC, Caleb University, Professor Olukoju, charged government to prioritize
funding of education, which is a critical sector of the economy.
“Funding of education is the core issue here but government isn’t keeping an agreement that
wasn’t signed under duress. This whole situation is like when someone buys goods on credit
and can’t pay on the date he promised to pay.
“I will suggest that government focuses on funding education rather than spending frivolously
of things that don’t contribute to the economy as education.
On the way forward BELLSTECH VC called on FG/ASUU to device a way to end this protracted
impasse, saying “if government can’t sustain education at tertiary level, it must declare its
position without wasting time because it takes more than just giving peanuts as funds to
education.”
Covenant University VC urged ASUU and government to arrive at a compromise and see how
they can utilize the available funds disbursed to the sector. If the desirable is not available,
the available becomes desirable.

26-yr-old to hang for robbery, rape

FOR robbing a couple at gunpoint and raping their teenage daughter, a Delta High
Court sitting in Warri, yesterday, sentenced a 26-year-old furniture maker, Chijioke Ede, to
death by hanging.
The condemned armed robber and rapist was arraigned on a three-count charge of conspiracy
to commit armed robbery, armed robbery and rape before the court presided over by Justice
Marshall Mukoro.
He was found guilty on all the charges and sentenced to death on count one and two, while
he got life imprisonment on the charge of rape.
Prosecution from Delta State Ministry of Justice had told the court that Chijioke, from Enugu
State, with another person still at large, on or about October 12, 2009, at Okoro Street, Warri,
off Marine Gate, within the Warri Judicial Division, robbed his victims of a DVD player, a laptop
computer, cash, jewelries and other valuables at gunpoint and also raped their teenage
daughter.
The convict was arrested by the vigilante group in the area as his gang made to escape with
their loot.
Justice Mukoro held: “With the avalanche of facts and evidences before this court, for the
accused to say he was not involved in the crime is laughable and an afterthought.
“For the court to hold the evidence of the accused will amount to denial of justice, thereby
bringing the bar and the bench to disrepute.
“I hereby uphold the evidence of prosecution as all the ingredients of the offence have been
proved beyond reasonable doubt and sentence the accused to death by hanging on count one
and two.”

Bizarre ailment leaves man feelingdrunk without drinking alcohol

For five years, an East Texas man struggled with randomly becoming intoxicated
without having consumed any alcoholic beverages. Some doctors wrote him off as a
closet drinker, but a medical team in Carthage listened, researched, and eventually got to
bottom of the mysterious illness.
In 2010, Barbara Cordell at Panola College was approached by a friend who was experiencing
symptoms he didn't understand.
"He was dizzy and feeling unusual. His wife is actually a nurse, and she was suspicious that
he smelled like alcohol and seemed like he was drunk or intoxicated. He said he hadn't been
drinking. She believed him. I believed him. So, we really tried to
figure out what was going
on with him," says Cordell, Dean of Nursing and Health Sciences at Panola College. Research
revealed something called "auto-brewery syndrome" which is also known as "gut
fermentation syndrome." "Several of the articles were pretty old, but they were talking about
the possibility of a yeast infection that was causing fermentation in the intestines and having
the patient, or patients, a number of patients were cited, who were actually intoxicated,"
explains Cordell. Cordell teamed up with Dr. Justin McCarthy. She says he was one of the few
doctors who had an open mind and believed the patient when he said he hadn't been
drinking. "He was the one that hospitalized the patient and did a 24-hour observation to
determine if this was really what was going on," she says. The observation revealed that a
glucose challenge paired with a high carbohydrate diet increased the patient's blood alcohol
concentration to .12, which is well over the legal limit of .08. "The doctor did stool cultures
and actually found this particular yeast known as brewer's yeast," says Cordell. The brewer's
yeast, also known as Saccharomyces cerevisiae, is the same yeast that's used to brew beer. It
was also growing in the patient's intestines. The doctor prescribed an anti-yeast medication,
which cleared the problem right up.
Cordell says she encourages patients and families with strange medical symptoms to keep
working until they find answers.
"Nurses are advocates and patients and their families need to keep working until they can
find an answer. There are people out there who will listen to them and good physicians that
will take care of them," she says.
It has been an entire year since the patient experienced any of the strange intoxication
symptoms. He wishes to remain anonymous.

Obasanjo's sister owns Apo building where squatters were killed

The unfinished building where security forces killed at least seven squatters on Friday
September 20, in the Apo neighbourhood of Abuja, belongs to Mrs. Adunni Oluwole Salisu,
believed to be the sister to former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Pemium Times reports
exclusively.
Documents from the Abuja Geographical Information Systems (AGIS) shows that the
property, located at No. 8 Bamanga Tukur Street, Gudu District, near the Gudu cemetery,
belongs to Mrs. Salisu.
Mrs Adunni Oluwole Salusi was said to have engaged the services of SSS operatives led by
Marilyn Ogah and combined team of soldiers to get the squatters out of her building.
Unfortunately 7 people were killed in the operation though the SSS said they stormed the

uncompleted building because they got intelligence report that Boko Haram members were
hiding in the building and were planning to strike Abuja.
