Arsenal targets Benzema and Di Maria

Arsenal are working on deals to sign Real Madrid attacking pair Karim Benzema and Angel Di Maria. The Gunners are prepared to pay £40m for 25-year-old France striker Benzema after missing out on Gonzalo Higuain and Liverpool's Luis Suarez. Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger also wants Argentina left-winger Di Maria, 25, and is understood to be chasing a keeper and a defender as well. The Londoners won 3-0 at Fenerbahce in the Champions League on Wednesday. It means they are in control of the qualifying play-off tie heading into the second leg at Emirates Stadium on 27 August and should they reach the Champions League group stage for a 16th consecutive season, it could help attract transfer targets to the club. Wenger is a long-term admirer of Benzema, who joined Real from Lyon for an initial £30m in 2009, while Di Maria arrived at

Who will be $300,000 richer in Big Brother?

I thought the organizers of Big Brother Africa would be easy on their own contestant, but I was shocked last Sunday when South Africa’s Angelo was kicked out.  Now we are left with Nigeria’s Beverley and Melvin, Ghana’s Elikem, Namibia’s Dilish and Zambia’s Cleo.  Truth is, it could be anyone’s money at this point. Anyone but Beverley. Nigeria favours Melvin over her. My money would be on Dilish, though.  Angelo became the 22nd housemate to be evicted, bringing an end to the final couple in the House - Bengelo. The 91-day reality show on DStv ends this Sunday. It has been an unpredictable season with some of the promising characters and entertaining personalities crashing out of the game before they could say BBA.  Clearly at this point, in line with the show’s unpredictability this year, whoever wins on Sunday will be no shock. Africa seems to be rooting for Elikem or Dillish, though.

Must Read- Open Letter to Gazidis by Arsenal Fans Group

A group of disgruntled Arsenal fans have written an open letter to chief executive Ivan Gazidis, expressing their "deep concern" with the state of the club. The Gunners' 3-1 defeat to Aston Villa on the opening day of the Premier League season prompted the move, with a failure to act in the transfer market chief among the worries held by the Black Scarf Movement . The open letter in full: Dear Ivan, We write to you as Arsenal's largest and fastest-rowing supporters' group, to convey our deep concern at the current state of our team going into the new season. In early June, around season ticket renewal time, you were widely quoted following your Q&A event where you spoke about the club's new financial firepower and ambition moving forward. Many fans saw this as the club finally about to break free from the shackles of moving stadium; new commercial deals were coming into place, we had a vast amount of cash available in the bank, profit from the Queensland Road property project was secured, the vast increase in
